A little bit of history and our vision for the rebirth of the local economy.
The Villecco Brothers cheese factory in Tunnel made butter, ricotta and parmesan with milk from small farms that dotted the local landscape. Within a generation after WW II, the cheese factory and most of the farms were gone. The control over the market by the mega food companies effectively hollowed out the local economy. Our interest in producing labels for farmers stems from our own commitment to the revival of the local farm economy and sustainable agriculture.
Our farm, Whistle-Stop Gardens produces vegetables and herbs for a 40-family CSA.
The driving force behind sustainable agriculture are the consumers who are seeking out high-quality, locally-produced food that has integrity and taste. We have operated a 40-family Consumer Supported Agriculture (Whistle-Stop Gardens CSA) project for the last 12 years on our 80-acre farm just down the road from the cheese factory. We have been able to connect our CSA members with regional farms who are marketing poultry, lamb, pork, beef and cheese. Two Milking Devons, 25 hens and 3 cats round out our diverse farm.
As a result of our experiences in the arts, graphic design, printing and farming, we feel confident that we can help you achieve your marketing goals with well-designed labels. We look forward to getting to know you and learning about your farm and the products you are marketing.
